China, 19th century CE. A large, heavy bronze mirror with a low relief nature scene depicting two storks or possibly herons behind a tree and with a turtle in the pond below. The polished side of the mirror still has some reflectivity. The handle was probably at one time wrapped in cloth or some other removable material. Size: 9.3" W x 13.25" H (23.6 cm x 33.7 cm)

The Chinese characters are translated as such: The first three mean "The #1 in the world." The last four characters are the name of the person that made the mirror, and it is "Teng Yuan Zheng Chong".
