Description:

**Originally Listed At $600**

Southeast Asia, Burma (Myanmar), ca. late 18th to 19th century CE. A gilt wood Shan style Buddha, seated in the full lotus position, with hands in the Bhumisparsa or "earth witness" mudra. His face has large, wide set lids and massive, elongated ears that touch his shoulder. The verso of the pedestal has a flat surface with a socket for attaching to a tenon in a niche or shrine. This piece has great signs of age and exposure to the elements which add a nice aged and weathered energy to the tranquil Buddha, but retains much of the gold gilt. Size: 5.75" L x 3.25" W x 15.75" H (14.6 cm x 8.3 cm x 40 cm)

Provenance: private Loveland, Colorado, USA collection; ex-Borisoothi's Antiques, Chiang Mai, Thailand, 1994
