Southeast Asia, Burma, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A set of 3 brass temple gongs that hang from a mahogany wood and rope framework. Each instrument features a discoid body with a raised nipple boss at the center, and each creates a pleasing sound when the center of each boss is struck. Size (full set): 4.5" L x 10" W x 44" H (11.4 cm x 25.4 cm x 111.8 cm); (largest gong): 4.5" L x 10" W (11.4 cm x 25.4 cm)

  • Condition: Gongs are from the stated time period; stringing and wooden top bar are modern. Minor abrasions to some gongs, otherwise intact and excellent. Great patina throughout, and wonderful sound created when struck on central boss.
