Western Europe, Great Britain, ca. 19th century CE. A hand-carved wooden tea caddy of a rectangular form with a tiered base, beautifully polished walls, a tapered lid with a concave groove around the perimeter, a separately attached top panel with a brass handle, and a brass scrollwork panel on the front of the body with a central key hole. A pair of brass hinges secure the lid to the body and enable it to open and close with ease. The inside of the body has four vertical slits for inserting separation panels so as to keep the interior contents of the caddy organized. Size: 5.375" L x 9.2" W x 4.75" H (13.7 cm x 23.4 cm x 12.1 cm).

  • Condition: Original interior separation panels missing. Top panel with handle is loose within cavity. Small fissure to top arch of key hole, small slits beneath lid, with minor abrasions to lid, body, and base, and light deposits within body cavity. Nice patina throughout.
