William Day (British, 1797-1845) and Louis Haghe (Belgian-born British, 1806-1885). Botanical lithograph, ca. 1838 to 1845. A lovely framed botanical lithograph presenting 11 different floral species (identified in text below, each flower delineated with fine line technique and a beautiful color palette by Day and Hague. Louis Haghe and William Day formed a partnership around 1830 and were appointed "Lithographers of the Queen" in 1838. By 1845, the firm was known as Day & Son. Together, Day and Hague were pioneers of color lithography. At the bottom of this lithograph their title as lithographers to the Queen is noted. Set in an attractive gold-tone wooden frame and ready to display. Size of visible print: 9.875" L x 7.625" W (25.1 cm x 19.4 cm) Size of frame: 18.5" L x 15.625" W (47 cm x 39.7 cm)
