South America, Bolivia, ca. second half of the 19th to first half of the 20th century CE. A beautiful example of a large crucifix pendant formed from copper and silver (55% copper, 29% silver). The slender body has a triangular base with flared fins, with discoid protrusions on the lower terminal corners of each lateral arm, and an integral suspension loop surmounting the top. The front of the cross features a stylized effigy of Jesus Christ with pins through both hands and feet. Petite blue glass discs adorn the front of the arms as well as an orange-hued glass cabochon on the lower terminal. The arms and lower base are further adorned with eight Bolivian ten centavo coins dated between 1935 and 1937, and the lowest coin is a Peruvian coin dated to 1896.
