Description:

**Originally Listed At $500**

Oceania, Western Australia, Aboriginal peoples, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful throwing stick, hand-carved from finely grained wood, meant for hunting rather than for display. The weapon has a slight curve to the body, a smooth verso, and a slightly convex obverse surface. The front displays a myriad of linear, avian, and anthropomorphic motifs in the negative spaces created by the meticulously stippled design, and fabulous patina envelops the entire composition. Size: 2.25" W x 25.25" H (5.7 cm x 64.1 cm); 25.75" H (65.4 cm) on included custom stand.
