South America, Argentina or Uruguay, ca. 19th century CE. A lovely pair of nickel silver estribos de campana or bell stirrups, intricately adorned with openwork designs of ovoid shields and scrolling foliate motifs. Both slender foot platforms are flanked by arching arms that culminate at a half circle-shaped buckle strap. Relief vegetal patterns additionally embellish the arms and buckle strap. Size: 1.4" L x 4.5" W x 6.3" H (3.6 cm x 11.4 cm x 16 cm)

Provenance: private Denver, Colorado, USA collection, acquired in the 1960s
