Description:

North America, United States, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful wooden chest constructed from several wooden planks that are reinforced with iron brackets and fittings. The hinged lid opens to reveal a deep interior cavity that was perhaps used as a storage chest or a traveling container for one's personal effects. Two iron handles are attached at either end, and a rectangular plate with three loops on the front likely secured the lid with a lock. A beautiful patina envelops the wood and iron of this chest. Size: 14.9" L x 30.25" W x 14.3" H (37.8 cm x 76.8 cm x 36.3 cm)
