North America, United States, ca. early to mid-19th century CE. An elegant antique powderhorn comprised of a cow or ox horn body naturally curved to a tapered spout embellished with a raised ring near its end. The lovely hardwood base plug is adorned with an inlaid 5-pointed metal star surrounded by petite ungulate bone dots forming the outline of a larger star and a diamond-shaped wood inlay bearing a tiny metal hook for suspension. Size: 3.125" in diameter x 11.25" H (7.9 cm x 28.6 cm)

Provenance: private Glorieta, New Mexico, USA collection; purchased from Cliff Logan, San Marcos, Texas, USA at the Brian Lebel High Noon Show in Mesa, Arizona, USA in 2020
