Description:

North America, United States, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful rifle with an octagonal iron barrel and a hand-carved wooden stock. The barrel has a forked sight near the midpoint, and the lock plate has a thick hammer that falls atop a percussion cap pin. The plate and hammer are embellished with an engraved scrolling motif. The double trigger is protected by a brass trigger guard. The stock is adorned with incised, crosshatched lines. A beautiful patina envelops the entire rifle and imbues it with a handsome presentation. Size: 55.5" L x 4" W (141 cm x 10.2 cm)

  • Condition: Losses to ramrod cavity and forestock and this area is tenuous. Losses to wood around lockplate, and plate is loose. Scratches and abrasions to wood on stock. The butt cap is stable but not flush with stock. Rich patina on wood and metal areas. Gun has not been tested for functionality.
