Description:

**Originally Listed At $250**

North America, United States, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful antique iron horse bit, with decorative cheek plates in the shape of horses. A thick bit spans between the cheek plates to fit in the horse's mouth. The "V" shape that is bent into the center of the band applied pressure in the mouth to guide the horse. The cheek plates have large loops at both ends for securing the rest of the bridle and reins. The horse-shaped cheek plates are a charming addition to this utilitarian piece of riding equipment. Size: 6" L x 5.5" W (15.2 cm x 14 cm)
