Description:

North America, United States, ca. mid 19th century CE. A wonderful ensemble of antique American photographs representing the three primary photographic types. First are three half-portrait daguerreotypes, two depicting a mother holding her child and one displaying a well-dressed man; each has an oval brass perimeter mat, an embossed brass frame, and a protective glass panel, one inside one side of a Union leather case, and the perimeter mat of the largest has the embossed words "S.B. Barnaby Artist Dayton Ohio" on the lower half. Two half-portrait tintype photographs portray two finely-dressed men with blushed cheeks, typical of tintype photography, and one wearing a tall hat; both have ovoid brass mats, embossed brass frames, and protective glass panels, and one is inside a Union leather case half. The last photograph is a half-portrait ambrotype portraying two women with a protective glass panel underneath an ornately-embossed brass perimeter frame.
