Description:

Western Africa, Mali, Middle Niger Civilization / Djenne, ca. 19th century CE or earlier. A pair of vessels with bulbous, round-bottomed bodies and long necks adorned with incised decoration. The larger vessel retains faint traces of painted pigments, with a decorative register of linear motifs on the upper shoulder. The Middle Niger Civilization, particularly the city of Djenne-Djenno, played a crucial role in trans-Saharan trade routes, serving as a hub for the exchange of goods such as gold, salt, and textiles. In addition to its commercial importance, Djenne-Djenno is renowned for its ancient pottery traditions, which date back as early as 250 BCE. Size of larger: 7" diameter x 11.5" H (17.8 cm x 29.2 cm).

For shipments outside of the USA, customs and duties may apply upon entry into said country, and this fee, if any, is the buyer's responsibility.
