Description:

Central Asia, India/Pakistan, Indo-Persian culture, ca. mid to late 19th century CE. A hammered steel helmet known as a khula khud of a domed form with chainmail mesh lining the lower periphery. The hemispherical helmet features engraved foliate details on the exterior that surround a pair of riveted socketing shafts as well as a central spike finial, and the adjustable nose guard can be suspended via a hinged latch that catches an integral prong. Fine patina covers the entire helmet. Display head for photography purposes only. Size: 8" W x 7.25" H (20.3 cm x 18.4 cm); 14.75" H (37.5 cm) with chainmail mesh.
