Description:

Native American, northern Canada, Inuit, ca. 1973 CE. Base has inscription of syllabics, "73," "2-04806," and copyright symbol. An adorable soapstone carving of an owl depicted standing with slightly spread wings and huge, piercing eyes above a curved beak. His talons are placed together as he puffs out his chest; the sharp angle of his wings contrasted by his spherical head, creating a graceful silhouette. Natural light green inclusions and russet-hued striations add variation to the smooth, black surface of the stone. Size: 4.4" W x 7.3" H (11.2 cm x 18.5 cm)
