Native American, southwestern United States, New Mexico, Taos, Taos Pueblo, ca. March 1977 CE. Underside of base signed "R. SUAZO / HC / 3/77." An engaging stone sculpture by Ralph Suazo (Taos Pueblo, 1921 to 2005 CE) depicting a kneeling woman in a tranquil moment of introspection atop a wooden plinth. A blanket covers her left shoulder as she places her right hand to her chest and gazes downward, her serene visage displaying almond-shaped eyes, a pointed nose, and a straight mouth. Her centrally-parted coiffure is loosely tied back in a sizeable chignon with an incised ornament. Size: 3.8" W x 6.3" H (9.7 cm x 16 cm); 7.8" H (19.8 cm) on included custom stand.

Another sculpture by Ralph Suazo can be found in the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian under catalog number 25/5388.
