East Asia, Hong Kong, Peng Chau Island, British Occupation period, ca. 1953 to 1968 CE. Wa Lee Factory mark on underside of base. A delightful porcelain bowl skillfully hand-painted with elaborate Famille Rose motifs of vibrant colors and gilt details. The maker's mark on the bottom reveals the dish was painted by the Wa Lee Company of Hong Kong. In the mid-20th century, plain white porcelain bowls were imported from China and Japan to Hong Kong and then decorated and marked by painters there; this example likely being one of them. Size: 7" Diameter x 3" H (17.8 cm x 7.6 cm)
