Description:

E. Ruffieux (French, 20th century), untitled painting of a village, oil on canvas, dated 1949. Signed and dated in red on lower right. A lovely painting of a picturesque village on a hilltop with glens of evergreens in the foreground and two deciduous trees to the left and right - serving as parentheses for the composition. The turrets and mansard roofed edifices atop the verdant hilltops are quite intriguing. Is the central focus of this painting a castle surrounded by smaller houses and churches? Or could it be a winery perhaps? All are bathed in a wondrous glow of natural light. A lovely composition set in a gilt wooden frame - with a scene that beckons the viewer, truly drawing us in and igniting our curiosity. Size: 23" W x 18" H (58.4 cm x 45.7 cm); 27.625" W x 22.625" H (70.2 cm x 57.5 cm) including frame
