Native American, Southwestern United States, Navajo, ca. 1940s CE. A handwoven table runner known as a "Gallup throw" made from wool in a creamy white with a dark green and red-pink pattern. Gallup Throws refer to petite vintage Navajo textiles crafted in the early 20th century by Navajo weavers situated near railway stations and tourist hubs. These intricately woven pieces, were affordable prices and convenient for packing luggage, but were generally too small for use as rugs, and were priamrily designed as tablemats or wall hangings. Size: 35" L x 13.75" W (88.9 cm x 34.9 cm)
