Latin America, Mexico, ca. November 1, 1936 CE. A wonderful tin ex-voto depicting a mother and child in bed beside a praying father, all facing the image of Christ carrying the cross, who likely is intended as Our Lord of Good Health. A Spanish inscription in the right corner of the image translates to: "Fervently with the gratitude that we owe to Lady Santa Ana and Our Lord of Health before her image we kneel to fulfill our promise for the immense miracle. That he granted us after 2 years of our marriage, a little girl coming into this world who is a blessing. Your devotees, Jose Rocha and Isolma B. de Rocha." The piece is accompanied by a book-shaped box titled "Ex-voto Created for Jose Rocha and Tsolma B. de Rocha Dated October 1, 1936 Property of the Hendrickson Family Collection." On the interior of the box is a document about ex-votos and photographs of the piece and of an incorrect translation. Size of ex-voto: 13.25" W x 9.75" H (33.7 cm x 24.8 cm); of frame: 14.75" W x 11.5" H (37.5 cm x 29.2 cm)

- Condition: A few indentations, abrasions, and nicks to painted surface. Otherwise, intact and excellent with good remaining pigments. Set in custom frame with suspension wire on verso for display. Accompanied by book-shaped storage box containing photos of an incorrect translation and piece and document on ex-votos. Same translation is on verso of piece.
