North America, Alaska or Canada, ca. 1930s to 1940s CE. A hand-carved red cedar totem pole with beautiful graining and vibrant painted decorations. The totem pole depicts a sizable eagle with enormous wings - attached on the verso via a pin - holding a massive orca above the head of a seal that the whale would have likely killed. Areas of the sculpture are adorned with black, brown, red, turquoise, white, yellow, and gray pigments to create a colorful presentation. Size: 2.375" L x 14.125" W x 16.9" H (6 cm x 35.9 cm x 42.9 cm)

  • Condition: Wings are slightly loose on verso, and bottom of pole is removable from base. Minor abrasions to pigment, with a few areas of surface roughness, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to zoomorphic forms.
