Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, Four Corners region, Dine (Navajo), ca. 1900s to 1920s CE. A hand-woven Ganado style sheep wool throw rug with 8- pointed star motifs and the fibers are aniline dyed in gray, black, brown, beige, and red hues. The stars, known as Valero Stars, are believed to have been introduced to Navajo weavers by Spaniards (which were influenced by Islamic styles), and / or American pioneer star quilts.
