Western Europe, Germany, Gottingen, ca. 1920s CE. A remarkable pocket sized "Junior" microscope perfect for travel and field work made by the Spindler & Hoyer company. The instrument fits into a brass cylinder case and comes with detachable tripodal legs and 3 objective lenses, which are threaded to the end of the body tube. Marked "Germany" under the stage, "Junior / D.R.G.M." on the cylinder lid side, and Spindler & Hoyer / Gottingen" on the top. Size of scope w/ legs: 4.5" L x 1.5" Diameter x 5.25" H (11.4 cm x 3.8 cm x 13.3 cm); case: 5.5" L x 1.5" Diameter (14 cm x 3.8 cm)

  • Condition: All pieces are present, attach correctly, and fit inside the case. Mirror is cloudy and dark around the edges. Scope is not tested for full functionality, and eye lens and objective lens are slightly cloudy / scratched. Wear to brass case, scratches to black pigments, but maker marks are clear and discernable.
