Description:

Western Europe, France / Belgium, post WWI era, ca. 1918 CE. A commemorative WWI stained glass plaque with a pewter rim and steel chains for suspension. A French inscription "Occupation des frontieres 1914 - 1918" (Occupation of the Frontier) is set around an escutcheon under a crucifix. The upper half of the escutcheon is an opaque black, the bottom with scrolling vines. It is possible this was to be engraved with a name of someone who died during the war. Size: 4.75" Diameter x 0.2" W (12.1 cm x 0.5 cm); chain: 10.25" L (26 cm)
