Description:

Northern Europe, Finland, Helsinki, ca. 1916 to 1920 CE. A wood and iron men's discus that was probably produced for use in the Olympic Games. The center is stamped "Sportarticles Co Ltd Helsinki Finland" and "Oy Urheilutarpeita Helsinki." The company was founded in 1916 as "Oy Urheilutarpeita" which is stamped on this discus, and they changed the name in 1920 to "Karhu." It is likely that this disc predates that name change.
