Western Europe, Switzerland, ca. 1910s to 1920s CE. A functional Doxa anti-magnetique pocket watch, manual movement with a large open dial face construction and sub dial, and double back case. The nickel-brass exterior case is marked "Madaille D'or Milan 1906 Doxa Hors Concours Liege 1905." The company's name "Doxa" is the Greek word for glory, established in 1889 by Swiss watchmaker Georges Ducommun. In 1905 this model garnered attention at the World’s Fair in Liege Belgium, and again at the 1906 World's Fair in Milan, Italy, winning a gold medal. The company is still in business today. The anti-magnetic properties refer to the use of a nickel alloy, known as Invar, that resists magnetic fields to keep accurate time.
