Description:

Native American, Southwestern United States, Akimel O'odham (Pima) or Tohono O'odham (Papago), ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A beautiful and tightly woven basketry tray made from natural vegetal fibers. The piece is bundled leaves coiled and then stitched with splints in light brown, perhaps willow, cottonwood, or yucca plant, and dark umber hues, likely devils claw or dyed willow. At the center is a stylized thunderbird motif. This is likely an older example with some wear, but overall good condition! Size: 11.75" Diameter (29.8 cm)
