Description:

Asian Art. Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 18th century CE. A wonderfully-formed long iron knife with a blade that flares out wide at the end, where it has been shaped to have a decorative double-sided edge with curved cuts inward. The surface at the end of the blade is incised with swirling, curling decorations. The handle of the blade is topped by a dorje, cast in iron as a single piece with the blade. The dorje is a symbol of Tibetan Buddhism that represents the moment of Enlightenment. A short string of thirteen pretty glass beads and a single coral bead is attached by a yellow and blue ribbon to the top of the dorje. Size: 2" W x 15.5" H (5.1 cm x 39.4 cm); 17.75" H (45.1 cm) on included custom stand.
