Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ayutthaya to Rattanakosin Period, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A lovely cast brass fragmentary head portion of a Buddha sculpture, with a lovely and calm visage. His eyes are cast downwards under large lids and softly arched brows, and a slender nose and slightly smiling lips complete his tranquil expression. His ears are adorned with large earrings that elongate his earlobes, and his head is covered by an ornately-decorated, conical crown. Buddha's depicted in royal attire and jewelry tend to date from the later part of the Ayutthaya period and symbolize a story when the Buddha donned royal robes, crown, and necklace to convert a pagan king. Size: 2.6" W x 4.1" H (6.6 cm x 10.4 cm); 5.1" H (13 cm) on included custom stand.
