Description:

New World, Spanish Colonial period, ca. 18th to early 19th century CE. A fascinating dagger made from a broken steel sword with a cast bronze guard decorated with floral motifs. Above the guard is a lathe-turned cow bone handle, its surface a series of roughly symmetrical raised bands. A tin endcap with a steel pin holds this in place. The original sword may have belonged to a Spanish soldier. Size: 3.25" W x 14.4" H (8.3 cm x 36.6 cm)
