South America, Peru, Spanish Colonial Period, ca. 18th to first half of 19th century CE. A fabulous necklace constructed with dozens of sizes of glass beads in a variety of colors and forms. Groups of beige seed beads are interspersed with spherical beads in blue, red, and white, barrel-shaped beads in red and white colors, and a pair of Spanish coins along the strands. The middle of the necklace features two unique blue glass beads resting above two brass religious medallions with Christian symbolism. The silver-plated barrel clasp capping the terminals makes this necklace not only lovely but also wearable! Size: 19" L (48.3); (largest pendant): 0.875" W x 1.1" H (2.2 cm x 2.8 cm)

Condition:
Strung in modern times and wearable as shown. Beads and coins are of the stated period, and stringing and silver-plated components are modern. Minor abrasions to some beads, with softening to finer details on coins and religious medallions, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina to coins and smooth surface textures across most beads.
