Western Europe, probably England or France, ca. 18th century CE; also ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A medallion cast from 95.09% silver depicting nude Hercules (Greek Herakles) along the lefthand side as he engages in fierce combat with the mythological Nemean Lion on the righthand side. The medallion is inlaid within the bezel of a lustrous 84% gold ring setting that features a solid shank and terminals adorned with gold granules. Size (medallion): 0.49" Diameter x 0.12" H (1.2 cm x 0.3 cm); (ring setting): 0.54" L x 0.87" W x 0.86" H (1.4 cm x 2.2 cm x 2.2 cm); gold quality: 84% (equivalent to 20K+); silver quality: 95.09%; weight: 4.9 grams; US ring size: 6
