Description:

Western/Central Asia, Persian, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A fine 95.5% silver archer’s ring comprised of a round shank and a protruding tab - used to retain the bow string once pulled back. The tab is slightly pointed and adorned with etched abstract floral motifs. An archer's ring is worn on the thumb of the archer's stronger hand, the hand that pulls the bowstring, with its tab or tongue fitted over the pad of the thumb. Not only does it protect the thumb, it also allows for a more precise release of the bowstring. A fine example that could be worn on any finger or even as a unique pendant! Size: .75" Diameter (1.9 cm); US ring size: 6.5; quality of silver: 95.5%; total weight 5.6 grams
