Near East / Central Asia, Turkey to Iran, Ottoman Empire, ca. late 18th to 19th century CE. A handsome and compact Miquelet lock rifle with a heptagonal bore, the iron barrel is incised with foliate motifs. A steel flintlock / miquelet lock style mechanism rests to the side of the barrel and still retains a flint fragment inside the striker, and underneath is the unguarded ball trigger. The thick backstock is a solid hexagonal cut with bone panel inlays, brass rondels, and brass panels with repousse bird motifs. Heavy signs of use with old repairs and modifications to this weapon! Size: 38" L x 4" W (96.5 cm x 10.2 cm); bore: 0.75" W (1.9 cm)

  • Condition: Trigger is loose, flintlock mechanism does not articulate. Losses to inlays and wood butt end, and loosening of brass fittings. Pressure fissures and losses to wood along barrel and missing iron fittings. Nice patina and signs of age and use. Gun has not been tested for firing functionality.
