Description:

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, East or Central Java, ca. 18th to early 19th century CE. An incredible Damascus-steel, straight, one-sided blade set into an elaborate, gently curved silver handle. The flat edge of the blade has a line of gold leaf in a repeated floral motif near the guard. The guard and sheath are ornately incised silver. The handle has very stylized depictions of flora in high relief. This style of weapon is known as either a pedang suduk or a pedang luwuk, both types of short sword from the island of Java. Both were made to be worn by warriors in Javanese courts alongside the smaller kris. Size: 2.25" W x 21.95" H (5.7 cm x 55.8 cm)
