Description:

South Asia, southern India or Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon), Kandy period, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A beautiful hand carved figurine of a woman dressed in fine garments. She stands upright and her hands rest at her waist, the creases and folds of her robes are gathered and slightly billow around her knees. Upon her wrists are bangles, around her neck are large necklaces, and her ears are elongated from her undoubtably heavy earrings. Her hair is pulled back into thick bun behind her head, and a cape rests over her shoulders. The surface of this wealthy woman is further enriched by a smooth and dark brown patina. Size: 3.25" L x 1.75" W x 7.5" H (8.3 cm x 4.4 cm x 19 cm); 9" H (22.9 cm) on included custom stand.
