Description:

North Pacific, Hawaiian Islands, Pre-Contact Period, ca. 18th century CE or earlier. A hand-carved stone hand chisel of a sturdy trapezoidal form with a thick butt end, a tapered body, and a sharpened edge with use-commensurate areas of smoothness. The light gray and beige hues of the stone are rather attractive considering this was at one time a tool in an artist's arsenal. Size: 5.4" L x 2.375" W (13.7 cm x 6 cm)
