Description:

Northwestern Europe, London, England, ca. 18th to 19th century. A wonderful pewter charger with a rounded base and a shallow basin surrounded by a wide rim. The underside of the basin is stamped with a faint maker's mark for "LONDON" with a circle of a crown and rose. London-made pewter was considered to be of superior quality compared to the rest of England and Europe. Pewter was popular because of its durability, easy maintenance, and attractive sheen. Despite its use and age, this charger is in good condition, which is a testament to London pewter's quality. A nice example that may have been passed down through many generations. Size: 13.25" Diameter x 1" H (33.7 cm x 2.5 cm)
