Description:

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. An endearing lucky rabbit pendant or charm, hand-carved from a translucent piece of quartz crystal. The animal crouches with eats flat to the body and features lightly incised, a suspension hole drilled vertically through the center - this bunny certainly could be strung to wear today as intended! The rabbit is an earth sign from the Chinese zodiac and plays a prominent role in Chinese mythology and considered to be the luckiest of the 12 animals. A white rabbit is also said to live on the moon - the dark craters creating a profile that resembles a rabbit pounding a mortar - stirring up the elixir of life for the moon goddess, Chang'e. Size: 1.25" L x 0.5" W x 0.6" H (3.2 cm x 1.3 cm x 1.5 cm)
