Description:

Far East, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. A finely sculpted very pale green jade miniature elephant, standing foursquare, with its head and trunk turned slightly toward its right and his tail swishing toward his left. Nice details including incised oval eyes, pointy tusks, and teardrop shaped ears. The stone is a beautiful mint green hue with areas of milky white inclusions, for the most part opaque, however the trunk is translucent. Size: 2" L x 1" W x 1.375" H (5.1 cm x 2.5 cm x 3.5 cm).

Provenance: Ex-Paul and Louise Bernheimer collection, Cambridge, MA and Laguna Woods, CA., acquired before 1980.
