A finely carved jade pendant representing the Sun God Kinich Ahau, designated as god G when referring to the codices, and presenting an overall rounded form with heavily laden eyes, a broad nose, and slightly parted lips with drilled holes at the corners. The dreamy visage has a celestial quality apropos for the sun god who makes his way across the sky. In addition to this special iconography, signs of the maker's skilled technique and artistry add to its undeniable value. The ancient jade carving is fitted to a modern 18K+ gold setting and suspended from a black cord - ready to wear! Size (pendant): 0.6" Diameter (1.5 cm); (setting): 0.7" W x 1.2" H (1.8 cm x 3 cm); (necklace): 22" L (55.9 cm); quality of gold: 77% (equivalent to 18K+); total weight: 8 grams.
