Description:

Native American, Central United States, Plains tribes, Lakota (Sioux), ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A war club with a stone head mounted on a long and slender wood rod with rawhide. The handle is entirely covered with hide, a seam up one side, the rawhide wrapping around the center of the stone head. The stone is pecked to a double pointed shape, a blow to the head would be deadly with such a weapon. Plains tribes often used stone-headed clubs in warfare and in dance - it is unknown whether this was ever used for war. Size: 32.5" L x 4" W (82.6 cm x 10.2 cm)
