Description:

North America, United States, ca. 1855 CE. A beautiful Colt revolver with smooth wooden panels lining the curved handle. The hammer and cylinder are of the percussive variety, and the trigger is protected by a brass guard. The cylindrical barrel projects out from the solid body and has a petite sight near the muzzle, and the interior is smooth and bears no rifling grooves. Several maker's marks adorn the pistol: "Address Col. SamL Colt New York U.S. America" atop the barrel; "U.S. Patent No. 542" and "Pat. Sept. 16 1855" on cylinder; "T" on one side of the handle; "125421" on the bottom of the barrel, body, and front of trigger guard; and "H" on the back of the trigger guard. Accompanying the pistol is a form-fitting leather holster. Size (pistol): 13.7" L (34.8 cm).

  • Condition: Trigger still articulates, but cylinder is fused to body and barrel and cannot be moved. Light encrustations, minor abrasions to handle, body, cylinder, and barrel, and light softening to some maker's marks. Great patina throughout. Pistol has not been tested for firing functionality.
