The infamous notification that ran in "The Port Folio" announcing the Alexander Hamilton's death, the pages are mounted in a modern wood frame under glass and contain all 7 pages the magazine ran in honor of Hamilton. These pages from the July 21, 1804, Volume IV, No. 29 edition, pages 225 to 232, the with dedicated entirely to the life and tragic death of Alexander Hamilton from 9 days prior. "The Port Folio" was a literary and political magazine published in Philadelphia that ran from 1801 to 1827 - and was read, contributed to, and subscribed to by political figures such as Hamilton. The magazine was printed weekly at the time, and the last page explains to the reader that the publication was postponed specifically for this event to gather and write an accurate account and memorial for this fallen hero (Hamilton died from his duel with Aaron Burr on July 12th). In recent years, Hamilton's life has been dramatized and memorialized by the smash Broadway musical "Hamilton" and he has gained a unique level of fame amongst the American Founding Fathers and historical documents pertaining to this pop culture icon have certainly become much more sought after! If you have not had the privelege of familiarizing yourself with Hamilton's life through musical lyrics, here is a brief biography: Alexander Hamilton: an illegitimate child born in the West Indies, orphaned at a young age, pursued a New York education, early American Independence revolutionary, he became chief staff aide and secretary to General George Washington during the war, in 1782 he was appointed to the Congress of the Confederation, wrote most of the Federalist Papers in defense of the Constitution, founded the Treasury, died during a fateful duel with Aaron Burr - an equally famous figure in American history.
