Tibet, ca. 17th to 18th centuries CE. This is a nice example of a kangling (literally, a leg flute), a trumpet or horn made of a human femur and used in Tibetan Buddhism in rituals designed to remind us of our transient physical existence. This includes rituals set in graveyards and sacred items like this one created from human bones! Size: 14" L x 3" W (35.6 cm x 7.6 cm)
