Description:

Southeast Asia, Thailand, Ayutthaya period, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. A cast-bronze statue of Buddha standing with bare feet atop a tiered lotus flower plinth. The Buddha dons a lengthy cloak that drapes down behind his skirt-covered legs and holds the handles of a large, flat-bottomed bowl with both hands. His downcast visage bears puffy eyes beneath gently arching brows, a broad nose above full lips, and pronounced ears with elongated lobes, all beneath a curled coiffure surmounted by a flaming ushnisha. Mottled layers of brown and green patina cover the figure in color and elegance. Size: 3.4" W x 13.6" H (8.6 cm x 34.5 cm)
