Europe, German School, ca. 17th century. A stupendous etching of a canal scene in Holland, likely Amsterdam. Quite a lively image with boats full of passengers being rowed along the canals. Meanwhile, the artist also includes folks on the land - couples enjoying the afternoon, children playing, a man and his dog, a group of adults - some holding beer steins - playing a type of ball game, women with baskets of produce, and several men on horseback. Quite a lively scene! Size of print: 6.875" L x 11" W (17.5 cm x 27.9 cm) Size of frame: 14" L x 18" W (35.6 cm x 45.7 cm)
