Description:

Western Europe, Germany, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. A tall and slender pike polearm comprised of a wooden pole with a pointed iron tail and at the other end an iron spear head. The socketed head is hafted onto the pole with a rivet and spherical protrusion before the narrow blade. The blade has faceted pyramidal edges that narrow to the sharp needle-like tip. The head has floral and geometric incised motifs along the blade and socket. The wooden pole is slightly curved with a smooth patina. The iron tail is comprised of a sheet hammered to form a socket with a pointed tip. Makers of the pike heads would often ship the blades out without the poles, and the buyers would fashion their own poles from wood. This is an impressive weapon that is in excellent condition and is very intimidating as well! Size: 81" L x 1.25" W (205.7 cm x 3.2 cm)
