Western Europe, England, ca. 17th to 18th century CE. A carnelian intaglio deeply engraved with a facing bust of a woman mounted in a gold ring. The woman has classical features, Grecian nose, with her hair delicately swept up with loose tendrils cascading to her shoulders, a beaded necklace around her neck. The band is in great condition and the ring is wearable! Size of bezel setting: 0.75" L x 0.6" W (1.9 cm x 1.5 cm); band opening, US ring size: 8; metal quality: 73.4% to 91.79% (equivalent to 17K+ to 22K+) gold, 5.3% to 11.6% silver, 2% to 15% copper; weight: 8 grams
